Yes, I make my own spears — it’s one of my favourite things to do.
I usually use cottonwood or bamboo for the shaft. Cottonwood is lightweight and easy to work with, while bamboo is naturally strong and flexible. I secure everything with marine-grade glue and heavy builder’s string to make sure it holds up in the water.
For the prong, I use whatever I have on hand — often rebar shaped and sharpened, or a spare spear shaft. It’s all about keeping it practical and durable.
If you’d like to see how it’s done, check out the Handspearing page or our YouTube channel for a full step-by-step guide on making your own hand spear.

Right now, we’re splitting our time between Far North Queensland, Australia, and Aore Island in the Vanuatu chain — two incredible places we’re lucky to call home.
Our long-term dream is to settle permanently in Vanuatu. We’re currently building our own house there and laying the groundwork to start running island tours in the future — so there are some exciting things ahead.
If you’d like to follow the journey, head over to our YouTube channel for weekly updates on the build and a behind-the-scenes look at island life.

Every time you purchase our products or merchandise, you’re doing more than just supporting us — you’re helping support the local community in Vanuatu. Your support allows us to create jobs for people on the island and continue producing the videos that share this journey with you.
We also produce all of our products through small, family-run businesses in Australia, ensuring every item is high quality, carefully crafted, and thoroughly tried and tested.

Yes, we did! After many hours of sketching and refining ideas, we came up with the original design featuring the crayfish and seagull. It took a lot of trial and error to get it just right.
More recently, we designed our newest logo showcasing the crocodile and barramundi — another design that reflects what we’re all about and where our adventures take us.
